Necessity for Clean Water

Access to safe, clean water remains a significant challenge for millions of people in Ethiopia. In many rural communities, women and children walk long distances each day to collect water from rivers, ponds, and other unprotected sources. These sources are often contaminated, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases and parasitic infections. For children already weakened by malnutrition, illnesses such as diarrhea can quickly become life-threatening. Recurrent drought further reduces access to reliable water, placing additional strain on families and communities. Expanding access to safe water is essential for improving health, reducing preventable disease, supporting education, and strengthening community resilience.
